Volkl V-Torque 16 - Excellent for Spin
V-Torque 16 generates a lot of spin which is close to the most spin-friendly string I have ever tried, Pro Supex Blue Gear 17. Comparing 16 or 17 of the same string (V-Torque), two of my opponents said 16 produced slightly more spin (contrary to the theory, but it's possibly due to the different string edges biting the ball). The spin generation of grooved or geared edge strings (like V-torque or Blue-Gear) is more than most other five, six or seven edge strings, whereby the edges wear out more quickly and become round. There is one major problem people complained. Depending on the angle the cross string cut into the main string, the string can break prematurely, less predictably. Prepare multiple racquets if you like this string, like I do. In my trial, V-Torque 16 is not softer than Luxilon Alu Power Rough 16 or Signum Pro Tornado 17. But it’s slightly softer than Pro Supex Blue Gear 17, or the same as MSV Focus Hex 17 and Silinco Tour Bite 17. But if you are not a baseline player with a sensitive hand, you probably won’t feel this subtle difference.
